Life and times in the world of metalcasting, and in the rest of the world, too.

The right thing to do

If I'm wrong, someone will e-mail me right away, but I expect almost every metalcaster will read this story and conclude that it's not all that unusual: a foundry that makes an effort to honor the memory of soldiers and Marines killed battle is just doing what seems proper to the workers and managers in such places. Often they are veterans themselves. So, too, are their brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. They know the sacrifices made by enlisted men and women, and their loved ones. They value the service in spite of the pain.

Nevertheless, this a tale told well and worth passing along.

It's their decency and respect for tradition that makes me appreciative of metalcasters like the folks in this report. It may not be unusual, but it's extraordinary.
